Hey Hasbro!

Accidently shot a few seconds on movie instead of pictures - oh well.

Well - It has been a busy week. The kids have started the week out strong, including being superbly well behaved on my birthday. What more could a teacher ask for on their birthday? Thank you minions for the birthday wishes - I appreciate all of them! We also had a very light homework day on my birthday, partially due to the Chicago Bears presenting me with an early birthday present as well. To all my fellow Bears fans out there, keep it up!

This week is one of those where I sacrifice part of my sanity in order to let the kids run free and create. My classroom has turned into part art room, part history room, but all creative and educational. The students have been working hard on creating an Ancient Egypt board game. They have their study guides to pull questions from and their imaginations to pull ideas from. Some of the projects are really starting to look good! I look forward to playing them tomorrow as our way to review for Friday's test.

Minor side bar: Friday is a half day for the kids!

Last week the students finished their MAP tests. The results will be shared with you at our first parent teacher conferences. The kids will also get the results in the upcoming weeks and will work on creating goals specific to their ability in an effort to help them boost their score in the Spring.

Most students have also received their first writing assessment back from me. We had a writing conference together and I provided their first 2-3 goals for their next writing assignment. The goals have ranged from working on improving word choice by including figurative language (metaphors, similes, alliteration, etc.) to working on employing an engaging introduction through the use of thoughtful statements, relevant quotes or intriguing questions.
