We're halfway through our week back and already there is a lot going on!
First of all, we extend a warm welcome to Helen, our new student. She is already been a fantastic fit in our classroom!
In 6th grade math we are working in the wonderful world of adding and subtracting fractions, including mixed numbers. Depending on the class that your student is in, a test should be coming up within the next week or two (definitely before winter break).
In Social Studies we have started our exploration and investigation into Ancient Mesopotamia. The Indus River receives our focus, along with the two major cities on that river, Mohenjo-Daro and Harrapa. We will be taking a look at the Ancient Indian cities, religion, and overall way of life.
Spelling continues onward. Our Unit 10 test is this Friday and our key words to study are: wouldn't, section, spent, ring, and teeth.
Student's are turning in their descriptive writing tomorrow about an imaginary adventure that they would go on if they were shrunk like in the movie Honey, I Shrunk the Kids! I can't wait to read some of these as your young authors are really showing their creative side.
Until Next Time!
yep, without helen our class wouldn't be complete! she's awesome
