Middle School is Coming!

Today we had the wonderful pleasure of listening to Adriana Plach, the school counselor at ASA, talk to us about how ASA works and what elective classes are offered there. The students had opportunities to talk to her about different classes, what they were about, and even questions about the school and student life as a middle school-er were answered.

At the end of the day your student was handed a packet to take home and go over with you. They are not due until next week, so you have some time to think about the classes and have a conversation with your student about what interests them. Please be on the lookout for it!

In other news - our Sitton Spelling Words of the week are: fight, capital, fill, deal, and busy.

In Social Studies we have begun our look at Ancient China. We have already explored some of the geography, talked about the first dynasty, and even learned about an 8,000 strong clay army that wasn't found until 1974!

Writing takes us to explanatory writing where students are learning how to write directions that are easy, concise, and clear to their reader. It's a challenge but we are using paper airplanes as our next experiment on writing directions. Let's hope this one goes better than the peanut butter and jelly sandwich one!
